Jabberwock 2006 Competition to be Held at Neel

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 3, 2006) - The Bradenton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will sponsor Jabberwock 2006 competition for the title of Miss Jabberwock Queen and a "Delta Idol" winner at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Bradenton chapter annually awards scholarships to female high school graduates, many of whom attend MCC.  The Jabberwock focus is educational development for local youth.

A group of six contestants, ages 7 through 16, will vie for the title of Miss Jabberwock Queen. Seven students from Manatee and Sarasota counties will seek the $150 "Delta Idol" cash prize. A panel of judges will determine the talent competition winner. Areas of competition include dance, singing, drama and musical instruments.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is a public service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., in 1913. It now boasts more than 200,000 members worldwide. Members are professional women who work to enhance economic and educational development, physical and mental health, political awareness and international awareness in local communities.
