MCC Venice Business Club Excels in District Competition

(Venice, Fla., Jan. 31, 2006) - Members of the Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice Phi Beta Lambda business club earned 16 awards, including 10 first-place awards, in District IV Spring Leadership Conference and Competitions held at Pasco-Hernando Community College, Brooksville, on Friday, Jan. 27.

Cathy Brown won first-place awards in business communications, business law, human resource management and management. Penny Bryan won first-place awards in accounting principles and impromptu speech, and a second-place award in economics. Teammates Bryan, Stephanie Ilich and Doug Mattoon won first place in business decision-making. Ilich also won first place in statistical analysis, second-place awards in hospitality management and marketing, and a fourth-place award in management. Mattoon won first place in accounting for professionals and computer applications and second place in impromptu speech. Ashleigh O'Neil won second place in human resource management.
