MCC Magazine & Staff Excel in State Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 14, 2005) - Manatee Community College (MCC) Pentangle humanities magazine won first place for general excellence at the Florida Community College Press Association conference held in Daytona Beach in October. Pentangle staff and individuals won three additional first-place awards, six second-place awards and two third-place awards.

The Pentangle staff won first-place awards for the cover and editing; and second place awards for staff page and design. Staff members are Michael Beach, Alyssa Himler and Krista Allen. Individual winners are Nancy Lord, first place, poem; Candy Morse, Alison Young and Victoria Dyer, second place, illustrations with text; Chrystal Foss, second place, illustration with text; Don McCauley, Troy Pierce and Nicole Phillips, second place, art works; Randall Auvil and Nancy Lord, second place, poetry; Weston Hooks, third place, photo; and Kathy Modzelewksi, Jessica Gaul and Weston Hooks, third place photography.

Faculty advisors are instructor Courtney Ruffner and Jeff Grieneisen.  Art consultant is Joe Loccisano. The magazine is published in the spring.
