New MCC Lecturer Directs First Play at MCC
(Bradenton, Fla., Oct. 24, 2005) - Dean Anthony, a new lecturer at Manatee Community College (MCC), will direct his first play at the college when Neil Simon's London Suite opens in November at the John W. James Studio Theatre. Anthony joined the MCC faculty in August.
Originally from Ludington, Mich., Anthony began his acting career on a community college stage at age 15 at West Shore Community College, Scottville, Mich., where he earned an associate's degree. He went on to perform in theatres in Chicago, Southern California and throughout the Midwest. While living in Vienna, Austria, for seven years, he performed (in English) for four seasons at Vienna's International Theatre. He also spoke German in a performance of Fiddler on the Roof at the Theatre an der Wien, where Beethoven, Schubert and Strauss premiered works. Locally, Anthony has been seen in Asolo Theatre productions of The Diary of Anne Frank, I'm Not Rappaport and The Crucible.
Anthony has a bachelor's in fine arts in theatre from Stephens College, Columbia, Mo., and a master's degree in acting from Florida Statue University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.
