Two Local Artists Exhibit at MCC Venice

(Venice, Fla., Sept. 27, 2005) - An exhibit of works by oil and acrylic artist Muriel Van Patten and ceramist Walter Yovaish will continue through Nov. 10 at the Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice Fine Art Gallery, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. 

A retired teacher who has served on arts and humanities councils at local, county and state levels in Michigan and Florida, Van Patten has presented successful solo art shows in Michigan, Illinois and Florida. She is a Port Charlotte resident who has won numerous awards and been named in Who's Who in American Women several times.

Yovaish, an Englewood resident affiliated with the Venice Art Center, also is a teacher who maintains his own studio. His work has been sold at Tiffany's and Sax Fifth Avenue and appears in the Smithsonian permanent collection in New York City. It has been showcased in House Beautiful, House and Garden and Architectural Digest magazines.
