MCC Music Students Donate Concert to Katrina Relief
(Bradenton, Fla., Sept. 12, 2005) - Students in the Manatee Community College (MCC) Music Program are organizing a benefit concert to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.
The program will be held 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located at MCC Bradenton, off 26th Street West at 60th Avenue West. The public is invited, and reservations are not necessary. A suggested minimum donation of $10 will be accepted at the door by cash or check made payable to the American Red Cross.
"This concert was the idea of MCC music students who volunteered to donate their talents to help the victims of the Gulf States," said MCC choir director Melodie Dickerson Guinta.
MCC music ensembles and individual students will perform a variety of music ranging from classical to American standards, Broadway favorites, jazz and popular tunes.
