URGENT-MCC BRADENTON CLASSES ARE CANCELED TO DIVERT ELECTRICITY FOR HURRICANE-IMPACTED AREA

(Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 30, 2005) - Classes and operations at Manatee Community College's Bradenton campus are canceled as of 3 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 30, due to a Florida Power & Light emergency notice that electricity is being diverted to areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

Note: ONLY classes at MCC Bradenton are affected. The electricity service and class schedules continue without interruption at MCC Venice and MCC Lakewood Ranch.

Regular college hours, classes and all activities will resume Wed., Aug. 31, 2005.  Any change in the resumption of college operations will be announced by college officials on the college Web site, www.scf.edu, on the college's main phone line at MCC Bradenton, 941-752-5000, and through local news outlets.
