Two Sections of Motion Pictures Class Offered at MCC Venice
(Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 8, 2005) -An additional section of a popular for-credit History of Motion Pictures class has been added to the Fall term 2005 schedule to accommodate more students at Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. College enrollment is required before the Fall term starts on Aug. 22. Separate sections of the class will be offered 1 to 3:50 p.m., Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 23, and Thursdays, beginning Aug. 25.
Students will see what instructor Bob Prokop calls "some of the best movies ever made" across a broad range of genre from the 1890s to the present. Discussions that follow the films focus on how they reflect cultural and social issues.
Prokop has more than 25 years of experience in teaching film, video and photography classes. Prior to moving to Sarasota two years ago, he was department chair of media arts and technology at Lane Community College, Eugene, Ore., where he co-developed the college's first multimedia program. He has a master's degree in film production from Southern Illinois University and a bachelor's degree in photography from the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
