MCC Venice Business Club Places Fifth in National Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., July 14, 2005) - The Manatee Community College (MCC) Phi Beta Lambda business club placed fifth in national business decision making competition held June 29 through July 2 in Orlando.

Business decision making is considered the toughest team competition at the national level. MCC's team was the only community college to place in the top 10. Other winners were four-year colleges or universities.

Winning MCC PBL team members are Dawn Smith, a Venice resident; Heather MacDonald, a North Port resident; and Sovanna Sok, an Englewood resident. In earlier statewide competition, team members won three awards. They placed first in business decision making.
