New Online Reference Service a Mouse Click Away

(Bradenton , Fla., June 6, 2005). - The Manatee Community College (MCC) library is one of more than 85 public, academic, school and special libraries across the state participating in a new free online reference service - Ask-a-Librarian. Professional expertise is now a mouse click away from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Unique Ask-a-Librarian software allows users to follow along on the Web as a live librarian demonstrates how and where to locate information. The chat session is totally interactive and there's no requirement to download special software. Once an inquiry is answered, a transcript of the entire session may be printed or e-mailed for future reference. At times when the online service is not available, questions may be e-mailed and a librarian will respond by e-mail during normal working hours.
