MCC Registrar Elected State Association Officer
(Bradenton, FL., June 2, 2005) - MariLynn Paro, Manatee Community College (MCC) registrar, has been elected as the 2005-06 vice president for membership by the Florida Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (FACRAO).
FACRAO's mission is to promote the advancement of higher education through advancing and professionalizing offices of admissions, registration and records in state institutions. Paro served as the organization's treasurer from July 1, 2003, to June 30, 2005.
Paro also has been elected to serve as a member of the statewide residency committee, which is comprised of collegiate professionals from both university and community college systems. The committee's goal is to develop statewide residency guidelines for all Florida post-secondary public institutions.
Paro came to MCC in 2002 and has been instrumental in introducing an array of online services for students. She formerly served as assistant registrar at the University of Central Florida, Orlando. She has a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in administration from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo., where she served as registrar from 1997 to 2001.
