MCC Administrators Present Seminar at Gulf Region Conference

(Bradenton, Fla., April 27, 2005) - Two Manatee Community College (MCC) administrators presented a how-to guide for organizing community events at the 2005 Gulf Region Industry Training and Services Conference held April 20 in Mobile, Ala. Dr. Idelia Phillips, director of the office of career and technical education, and Dr. Tom Davenport, director of workforce development, presented a seminar entitled "The Business, Industry, Government Road Show."

The seminar offered a step-by-step guide that covered the invitation process, presenting at various sites, gathering ideas for new classes or programs and soliciting new contract training business. Phillips and Davenport focused on seven successful events held at various chamber of commerce sites in MCC's two-county service district. The annual events offer an opportunity for MCC President Dr. Sarah Pappas to update business, industry and government representatives on highlights of new construction and programs at MCC and legislative issue. Presentations also are traditionally made by Phillips and Davenport to showcase the college's credit and noncredit programs.
