MCC Professor Named in International Who's Who
(Bradenton, Fla., April 8, 2005) - Pianist, composer and Manatee Community College (MCC) Professor Dr. Leonidas Sarakatsannis has been selected for inclusion in a Who's Who in the World 2005. He has performed as a pianist throughout the United States and in Guam, Saipan, Hawaii and Japan. His background also includes work as a pedagogue and conductor.
Also listed in Who's Who in America 2004 and the International Who's Who in Musician's Directory, Sarakatsannis has been praised by critics for his "vitality of tone" and "profound musicianship." He received a Florida Composers League Composition Award for Twelve Excursions for the Young Pianist, which was published by Theodore Presser Company. His career includes solo performances with many prestigious orchestras, including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Florida Symphony and Florida Philharmonic.
Sarakatsannis is a former chairman of University of Central Florida and University of Guam music departments and the University of Florida piano department and has taught at MCC since 1994.
