MCC Department Chair Receives International Leadership Award
(Bradenton, Fla., March 22, 2005) - Dr. Anthony Gambino, chair of the Manatee Community College (MCC) natural science department, received a 2005 International Exemplary Leadership Award from the Chair Academy, an organization committed to advancing organizational leadership. He was honored at the 14th Annual International Conference held in early March in Fort Lauderdale and will be recognized in the Academy's spring journal.
"The recipients of this award are nominated by their colleagues in recognition of their exemplary leadership; their demonstrated best leadership practices; and their commitment to their institutions, departments, teams and the students they serve," wrote Gary Filan, executive director of the Chair Academy, in a congratulatory letter.
Gambino's peers praise him for his focus on team building; use of data-based strategies to make departmental improvements; and dedication to quality teaching and technology improvements that enhance student engagement. He is a graduate of the academy's national year-long leadership and development training program and has a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oneonta, N.Y., and a Ph.D. from the University of South Florida.
