MCC Students Shine at Winter Music Symposium

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb.11, 2005) - Four Manatee Community College (MCC) students were winners and another earned an honorable mention in at the Florida Community College Activities Association Winter Music Symposium held in Tallahassee Jan. 27 and 28.

Winners are Cole Dodds, voice; Bradley Dorrill, guitar; Ben Meyer, percussion; and Monica Valenzuela, voice. Pianist Josh Ewing received an honorable mention. Each winning student received a $1,000 renewable scholarship at a Florida college or university of their choice. The winners also presented a concert Jan. 28 at Florida Statue University.

"These are prestigious awards and traditionally, our MCC students do well. We are pleased that MCC students made such an extremely strong showing this year," said Dr. Charles Turon, MCC music professor.
