Winners of MCC Magazine's Art Competition Announced

           (Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 17, 2004) - Winners of the Manatee Community College (MCC) Pentangle magazine art competition have been announced. Their works are eligible to appear in the award-winning humanities magazine, which will be published in the spring. Each winner receives a cash award.

           Winners are Angelique Blansett, photography; Amanda Mason, graphic design; and Troy Pierce, two-dimensional design. Mason also received an honorable mention. Others who received honorable mentions are Leah Boardman (two), Michael Clarke, Crystal Foss, Ryan Horst, Lauren Johnson, Angela Marshall, Don McCauley, Leora Stewart, Jessica Wetzel and Allison Young.

            Artist Margaret Murphy-Reed judged the competition. She has a background in printmaking, papermaking, bookmaking and encaustics. Her works are in collections owned by museums in Florida and Michigan; major corporations like Nieman-Marcus, Price-Waterhouse and Southern Bell; and numerous private collectors.

            Pentangle entries may be viewed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Jan. 13 in art building number 10 at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The gallery and building will be closed for Winter Break Dec. 18 through Jan. 2.
