MCC Presents the Musicians of Manatee

             (Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 16,, 2004) - An evening with the  "Musicians of Manatee" will feature solo performances, chamber music and jazz by talented Manatee Community College (MCC) faculty beginning at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton. An on-stage catered reception will follow the concert.

             The program includes the premiere performance of Far From Eden, a composition for cello and piano by Dr. Ted Dollarhide, whose works have been commissioned by chamber orchestras, symphonies and individual performers. Popular musicians well-known by area audiences, jazz pianist Mike Markaverich and guitarist/composer Rex Willis are two of 17 noteworthy performers. Markaverich is a radio and TV performer with his own Marktime Records label. Willis has CDs and books of original compositions and hosts "Guitar Unplugged" on METV Channel 21. Tenor Robert Lischetti, has appeared with the New York Philharmonic and in opera houses in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Holland. Other performers are Felicia Brunelle and Chung-Yon Hong, violin; Marc Mannino, electric guitar; Laurie Penpraze, trombone; Lydia van Dreel, French horn; James Robert Wright, saxophone; Nathan Frantz, viola; Melodie Guinta, soprano; Leonidas Sarakatsannis, Charles Turon and Lurray Myers, piano; Sasha von Dassow, cello; Carol Hawkinson, organ; and John Miller, string bass.    

            Proceeds from the concert will benefit the MCC Music Program. Tickets for the recital and reception are $25. Tickets for the recital only are $10. They go on sale Jan. 5 in Neel Performing Arts Center Box Office. For more information, call (941) 752-5252.
