Singer-Songwriter Kate Campbell Featured in MCC Venice Concert

           (Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 8, 2004) - Singer-songwriter Kate Campbell, popular with country and folk fans, will be the featured performer in an outdoor concert Sunday, Jan. 23, at Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Gates open at 1 p.m. and the concert begins at 2 p.m. Other performers are songwriters Lorna Bracewell and James Hawkins.

            With seven albums to her credit in a 10-year period, Campbell has been widely praised for her angelic voice and as a southern storyteller. She has toured throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.  A featured performer at numerous folk festivals, she's been called "a distinctive talent" by USA Today and praised for "highly articulate and provocative lyrics" by the Boston Globe.

            Bracewell has been performing professionally since age 13. Critics praise her brilliant songwriting, hard-hitting acoustic guitar, distinctive raspy alto and fun-loving stage presence. Hawkins, a Venice resident, has performed in numerous folk festivals and also is an actor who has appeared in more than 30 productions, including comedies and musicals. Two of his songs were chosen for inclusion in Friends of Florida Folk Songwriter Samples CD.

            The concert is sponsored by the MCC Venice Student Government Association and Sarasota Herald-Tribune newspaper. It is free for all students and children.
