Competitors' Works Featured in Pentangle Exhibit at MCC
(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 30, 2004) - An exhibit of entries by Manatee Community College (MCC) students competing in annual Pentangle humanities magazine competition will be on display Dec. 9 through Jan. 13 in art building number 10 at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. A reception and presentation of awards will be held at noon, Thursday, Dec. 9.
Artist Margaret Murphy-Reed will judge the competition. She has a background in printmaking, papermaking, bookmaking and encaustics. Her works may be seen in collections owned by museums in Florida and Michigan; major corporations like Nieman-Marcus, Price-Waterhouse and Southern Bell; and numerous private collectors. An exhibit by Murphy-Reed will open in the MCC Bradenton Fine Art Gallery Jan. 28.
Students' works that will be shown in the Pentangle exhibit include sculpture, pottery, drawing, paintings, graphic design works and photography. The award-winning Pentangle magazine is published in the spring.
The awards reception is free and open to the public. Works may be viewed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gallery and building will be closed for Winter Break Dec. 20 through Jan. 1.
