MCC's Free GED Program Offered Weekdays & Saturdays

(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 10, 2004) - Manatee Community College's (MCC) free general education (GED) test preparation and counseling program was recently expanded to include classes on Friday and Saturday as well as Monday through Thursday at MCC Bradenton. The program also is offered at MCC Venice and two off-campus locations.  Successful completion of the GED test is the nationally recognized equivalent of a high school diploma. Classes and counseling are offered:

·        8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday; 5:30 to 9 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, room 221, building 18, MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West; and

·        4 to 9 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, room 171, building 100, MCC Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail.

Classes also are offered in conjunction with the YMCA Even Start program at the Sarasota Housing Authority Community Center, 300 Janie Poe Drive, and Venice Housing Authority Community Center, 201 Grove St. North. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  Sarasota residents who qualify for the Even Start program may receive free transportation, meals and child care.
