SCF Sets New Guinness World Record

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) set a new Guinness record for collecting the most plastic bottles in an eight-hour period at EarthFest 2010 held on April 22. Organizers and volunteers collected 46, 357 bottles that weighed 4,980 pounds, surpassing the previous record of 657 pounds.

EarthFest founder and SCF student Shane Henry accepted a framed certificate from Guinness adjudicator Kim Partrick and presented it to SCF President Dr. Lars A. Hafner shortly after 3 p.m.
