Planning and Institutional Effectiveness
State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) embraces the use of planning and assessment at all levels, for each program and service, for each department and employee as well as institution-wide. Our ongoing cycle of improvement includes the frequent evaluation of our processes, programs, services and outcomes, including student learning outcomes. Analysis of assessment results leads to initiatives which promote and enhance student success and that address community needs.
The Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (OPIE), led by the Associate Vice President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, supports collaborative College-wide planning. It also guides the institutional effectiveness and data analysis process, disseminating the results to appropriate constituents. In conjunction with the Office of Institutional Research, OPIE supports data collection and analysis as well as the compilation of information regarding SCF’s effectiveness. OPIE also provides coordination, guidance and support for the reaffirmation process in addressing the Principles of Accreditation promulgated by SCF’s accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
The SCF Office of Institutional Research, the Resource Development Department and the SCF Institutional Review Board report to OPIE. OPIE’s main focus is to collaborate in and support the purposes and goals of the following four initiatives:
Strategic Planning & Institutional Effectiveness Standing Committee - leading the committee as it develops, implements, and reassesses the SCF planning and evaluation process to improve institutional effectiveness
SACSCOC Reaffirmation – guiding and supporting SCF leadership in successfully completing the reaccreditation process
Quality Enhancement Plan – supporting the SCF initiative to enhance student learning and/or the environment for student learning (from topic selection to plan development)
Institutional Effectiveness – providing resources and support for data collection and analysis leading to improvement
