Nursing Computer Software

The following 11 computer software programs can only be accessed in the Bradenton or Venice nursing computer labs. To launch the programs click on start; lab applications and choose one of the following programs. You do not have to enter any code or personal information to access these programs. When the program requests any of this information just make an entry in the space provided and you will be able to enter the program.

1. Chart Smart 11
Description: 10 module series on documentation, covering basic concepts, guidelines, charting formats, practice charting phrases, testing, and evaluations.

2. Conflict Resolution
Description: The program's objective is to help the student learn to resolve conflicts in a positive, constructive manner. Unit 1: Overview of conflict, Unit 2: Sources of conflict, Unit 3: Stages of conflict, Unit 4: Strategies for conflict resolution, Unit 5: Application, Unit 6: Test bank

3. Critical Thinking Tutorial
Description: The program is intended to facilitate the critical thinking (CT) ability of nursing students by:

a. Providing information about critical thinking theories and theorists.
b. Introducing learners to the elements of critical thinking.
c. Providing students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills through a variety of exercises that address the different CT elements. 

4. Essentials of Cardiac Rhythm
Description: Electrical activity of the heart including sinus, atrial, ventricular dysrhythmias and heartblocks

5. Medication Maestro: Giving Intravenous Medications
Description: Master the knowledge and skill needed for administering intravenous medications safely to patients.

6. Management of the New Born Experience
Description: The comprehensive nature of this program makes an excellent teaching tool. The program includes 1) Immediate care of the newborn 2) General assessment: appearance, vital signs, and measurements 3) Complete assessment: skin, head, chest and abdomen 4) Complete assessment: genitalia, extremities, reflexes and gestational age

7. Nursing Diagnosis
Description: Includes 1) Create a care plan: Create your own plan by picking from a list of Nursing Diagnosis, or you can modify an already existing one 2) Mystery diagnosis: a game you can with one or two players and it gives you clues with choices of nursing diagnosis. You have to choose the appropriate nursing diagnosis. **Good for prioritizing and developing critical thinking skills*** 3) Self-test: asks different questions about nursing diagnosis 4) case studies: gives you a list of case studies to review and then answer questions about it.  Note: Very helpful in critical thinking skills.

8. Nursing Station
Description: Learn to interpret Urinalysis, Three-lead ECG's, complete blood count, and arterial blood gases.

9. The Phys Whiz Series
Description: Includes test banks and review for the following: cardiac system, accessory organs of the GI system, endocrine system, gastrointestinal system, immune system, renal system, respiratory system.

10. Thumbs Up
Description: Instructional games for the following: nursing process, infection control, understanding the basics of fluids and electrolytes, acid and base balance, when fluid wanders, the great salt lake, theories of personality disorders, medical and regulatory properties of the heart, myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke, hypertension, structures and functions of the heart, cardiac infectious disorders, valvular disorders, cardiac surgery, structures and functions of the GI tract, alterations in GI function, alterations in the hepatobiliary tract and pancreas, nursing care of patients with alterations in the GI tract, urinary system disorders, female reproduction and the fetus, and pediatric respiratory infections.

11. TLC
Description: Sample computerized charts on 12 different patient scenarios.
