State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) began a new era March 17, 2009, with the State Board of Education's unanimous approval of SCF's proposal to deliver a complete Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree to Manatee and Sarasota counties. The College has received official notification from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) that the institution has received Level II accreditation with no conditions or restrictions.

The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota District Board of Trustees on May 20, 2009 approved pursuing six new baccalaureate degrees. The College has submitted a letter of intent to the State Board of Education to explore offering the following four-year degrees:
Programs will be designed to follow after completion of the associate's degree with SCF and will complement already existing associate programs. All programs are in the early stage of development.
Energy Technology is a program that prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of engineers and other professionals engaged in developing energy-efficient systems or monitoring energy use. Program of study includes instruction in principles of energy conservation, instrumentation calibration, monitoring systems and test procedures, energy loss inspection procedures, energy conservation techniques, and report preparation.
This program prepares individuals to develop, plan, and manage health care operations and services. Graduates will acquire desired workforce skills in human services, health financial management, health information systems and an understanding of health care issues. This program will lead to job opportunities such as clinical and laboratory manager, health care facility coordinator, and department manager.
This program provides associate program graduates from areas such as law enforcement, paralegal, fire science or emergency management with an educational path toward bachelor's degree workforce skills that are desired both in government and the private sector. Coursework will include the areas of public safety, homeland security, management, administrative law, crisis and disaster issues, and terrorism prevention.
The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Technology Management will balance the effective use of technology and management skills to help graduates solve today's business issues in both private and public sectors. Students will gain fundamental knowledge of information technology needed to successfully analyze, define, design and implement organization processes in conjunction with current IT systems. Management procedures, contract negotiations, budgeting, due diligence procedures, quality assurance and sustainability will also be included.
The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education is a unique program that is designed for students seeking employment in the field of child care and children's services. The program prepares students to be highly qualified teachers (including VPK and Head Start), managers or administrators of programs for children from birth through age 4.
This degree will prepare students to become special education teachers who provide specifically designed instruction and services to children with disabilities. Special education teachers adapt and develop materials and implement accommodations to match the special needs of each student and use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure that students with disabilities reach their learning potential. While a small percentage work in private schools, residential facilities or hospitals, the majority of special education teachers work in the public schools.
