State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) began a new era March 17, 2009, with the State Board of Education's unanimous approval of SCF's proposal to deliver a complete Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree to Manatee and Sarasota counties. The College has received official notification from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) that the institution has received Level II accreditation with no conditions or restrictions. Programs will be designed to follow after completion of the associate's degree with SCF and will complement already existing associate programs. All programs are in the early stage of development.
This program prepares individuals to develop, plan, and manage health care operations and services. Graduates will acquire desired workforce skills in human services, health financial management, health information systems and an understanding of health care issues. This program will lead to job opportunities such as clinical and laboratory manager, health care facility coordinator, and department manager.
This program provides associate program graduates from areas such as law enforcement, paralegal, fire science or emergency management with an educational path toward bachelor's degree workforce skills that are desired both in government and the private sector. Coursework will include the areas of public safety, homeland security, management, administrative law, crisis and disaster issues, and terrorism prevention.
The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education is a unique program that is designed for students seeking employment in the field of child care and children's services. The program prepares students to be highly qualified teachers (including VPK and Head Start), managers or administrators including programs for children from birth through age 4.
This workforce degree’s program of study will include principles of energy conservation, instrumentation calibration, monitoring systems and test procedures, energy loss inspection protocols, energy conservation techniques, data collection and report preparation. Program graduates will be hired under various titles by commercial, retail, governmental, and/or other entities that utilize one or more large buildings. They may also be hired by energy consulting and testing firms as well as construction and engineering firms and building commissioning entities. Graduates will qualify for positions associated with energy management, such as energy applications specialists, facilities managers and energy conservation specialists.
