• Use an assessment tool to determine the performance skills for a particular job.
• Develop questions that cause applicants to provide factual information about their past experiences that focus on the position’s critical skill needs.
• Learn how to create an objective, structured, legally defensible method for interviewing and evaluating job applicant skills and abilities.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to recognize and effectively manage emotions in ourselves and with others. Emotional intelligence increases our ability to make good decisions, build relationships, deal with stress, and cope with change. Research has proven that our emotional intelligence (EQ) is more reliable in predicting success than our intelligence quotient (IQ). In this course, we explore the topic of EQ and how to develop our own EQ, thus increasing our success in our careers, relationships both inside and outside of work, and leadership of others. In this session, participants will:

• Define emotional intelligence and how it relates to personal and organizational success.

• Analyze and interpret online assessment results from an EQ inventory.
• Consider ways to increase and apply elements associated with emotional intelligence to relationships with and leadership of others.
